Wedding Chuppah

Our nephew Ivan and his bride Tracey married in early fall of 2006. This was the first wedding on my husband's side of our family.

Being a graphic designer I offered to do their wedding invitations. The kids called and asked me to make their chuppah. They sent me their theme which was a quote from the Torah: "I am my beloved and my beloved is mine." I decided to use that as the chuppah's theme. I used two large interlocking rings and adorned them with the quote from Solomon following the curve of the rings. Then I added the same quote in the beautiful Hebrew type.

The border is made from thousands of 1-1/2" squares traditionally pieced. The rings and the type were raw edge appliquéd. The whole quilt was edged in metallic threads. The label on the back is a copy of the couple's wedding invitation. There are ample ties on all four corners. The chuppah held up very nicely on their windy wedding day!

The couple's first child - a son - was born in the Spring of 2008.
