MORE REDWORK PATTERNS!!!

COMING SOON!

Redwork is historic American embroidery art form dating back to the late 1800’s. Red thread was used back then, as it was the only colorfast thread color until the 1920’s. In the early days Redwork quilts were made with hand stamped designs on cotton or linen that cost one penny, which was how the term “penny squares” was coined. Traditionally standard embroidery stitches are used such as running stitches, stem stitches, chain stitches, cross stitches and French knots to name a few.

Redwork is once again very popular! Quilters are experimenting with different colors and making Bulwark, Blackwork, Greenwork and even multicolor work. Quilters use different thread weights for textural difference.

Zebra Patterns is now providing customers with Redwork patterns. Each pattern has full instructions how to complete a finished Redwork project. Please check back often as we will be adding many NEW REDWORK patterns!
