Wedding Chuppah 2 2010 - 112" x 112" finished size Our nephew Ross and his bride Michelle married in June of 2010. This was the second wedding and second chuppah on my husband's side of our family. Jewish couples obtain a decorative wedding contract that they sign as part of a traditional Jewish wedding. This document is called a Ketubah. Ross and Michele loved the trees and leaves on their Ketubah and that was my departure point. They wanted to include all of the special moments in their lives together from childhood to the present. I drew a stylized tree with heart shaped leaves that I created in photoshop. Each leaf has a special occasion written across main portion that denotes birthdays, wedding party names, home town addresses etc. The back of the quilt has monogramed handkerchiefs from Michele’s grandmothers as well as a fabric copy of their wedding invitation. This quilt was totally designed and quilted by Debra Gabel as a wedding gift on a standard home sewing machine utilizing raw edge applique and digital design and printing for the leaves and original birds. |
